How does school influence my life?

Wow I think the question is better stated as how does school NOT influence my life right now!  I am currently taking 3 classes: this one, Nutritional Assessment, and Contemporary Nutrition.  So pretty much being married, working 40 + hours a week, and school consume me.  I am a perfectionist also so I try to do the best I can in school and get really irritated when I don't get A's.  But I am close to my degree only 9 more classes I think so I am really looking forward to being done.  I have been in school for way to long.  I have switched degrees 4 times, yes 4 times.  I wish I would have known what I wanted to do a long time ago because I would have saved lots of time and money.  On another note school influences my life in other ways.  Since I am surrounded by health, nutrition, and wellness information on a daily basis it helps me stay in touch with how to take care of myself, my family, and my friends.  There is always new technologies or information appearing about health so it keeps it fresh.

Plagarism

This may be a short blog because I don't know if I can gather a lot to say on the matter.  I do find it offensive that people would try to steal others ideas but I think most people just gather information and put it into papers to show they have researched and sometimes forget to cite.  I think more often than not it is an accident and not an intentional occurance.  It is important that we do cite our sources so others can find them also.  If I find something in someone else's paper really interesting and would like to read more about it I can simply take the information from their Reference page and find it on my own.  It does seem like everyone else's ideas and studies have creeped into papers so that it isn't even as if we have wrote them, our ideas seem like a sidebar to the ridiculous amount of parenthesis for citations.

Being an online student...

Hi everyone...hope you are all doing well this weekend.  Being an online student seems to be a love-hate relationship!  I love that I have the opportunity to do things when I have the availability, everything is usually in writing where you can see it and go over it many times in case you missed something, and everyone gets the chance to participate (or is required).  It seems like the things we are taught online and how it is structured is much more adult-like and profession friendly.  I have attended a state university, a small private college and here I am now at Kaplan so I feel like I have a good all-around idea of what college is like and what different colleges can offer.  It seems like there is a lot of work expected of you online: a ton of reading, lots of participation, and many papers.  Overall I like how the class is structured.  When I was deciding on an online college I picked Kaplan instead of University of Phoenix because they are required to do group work every class every week and that just really isn't for me.  So here I am, worked hard at Kaplan, but enjoying how wonderful the teachers and classmates are.

Ahhh Sunday

Hello everyone-
I sure hate it when the weekends are coming to a close.  It means projects and discussion boards are soon due and the work week begins again.  I love sleeping in late and just hanging out around the house on Sundays, especially in a few weeks when regular season NFL football begins.  Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday as well!

Here we go...

Well today is the middle of my vacation (although I am still having to do homework, ugh).  My husband and I just returned from a wonderful trip to Sandusky, Ohio to Cedar Point amusement park.  We are roller coaster junkies so it was an excellent time.  Currently I am just catching up on some homework I missed while I was away and watching the latest news on the NFL.  I am so tired of the Brett Favre saga again this year I could scream.  Hope everyone is having a fabulous day! =)
