Unit 8 Blog- Practices and exercises

Visualization has always been something that has been practiced in my life but it mostly centered around athletic activities.  I realized after doing exercises in the book and on the CD that it is very useful for many different things in life especially promoting healthy well-being.  I used to visualize my gymnastics routines before competition, my track meets, and my cheerleading competitions.  Now I can take time out of my day to visualize how I will take on my day, how I will open myself up to different experiences, and different goals.
Yoga is a good way that I can touch on meditation without having to just be still and calm.  In meditation I can reach deeper into what I want to be and how I can get there by blocking out all the distractions and focusing on nothing until I receive the answers I need.  I implement meditation into my yoga by holding poses for long periods of time giving me a chance to still my mind.

  1. Hey Iris,

I really like the visualization exercise too. I think this exercise really helped me distinguish between what is day dreaming and what is visualizing though LOL.

Alot of the time we say, 'Man, I didn't see that coming'....I feel that visualization is a great way to prevent these types of situations. We can't predict the future but we can definitely get an idea how we want a situation to pan out; and as we have learned a great deal of our inner self projects to the outer world. The whole concept of visualization reminds of the book The Secret. Have you heard of it before?

  2. Hello,

I like your post, I took really like the visualization technique in helping me reach my daily goals as well as any future goals as well. Personally I find that visualization coupled with meditation works great for me , not only in viewing my possible outcome but in relaxing my mind from any distractions.

  3. Hi Iris, I like your post and I feel it's very close to my thoughts on the exercises as well. Meditation through whatever pathway you experience it can be so calming and yet strengthening at the same time.
